Launched in 2001, the Renault Sport Clio V6 was a spiritual successor to the Renault 5 Turbo of the 1980s, another mid-engined monster that captured the hearts of enthusiasts. The first phase of the Clio V6 was produced between 2001 and 2003, with a 230 horsepower 3.0-liter V6 engine. In 2003, Renault launched the Phase 2 version, which saw improvements in power (up to 255 horsepower), handling, and build quality.

Unlike any other car in its segment, the Clio V6 featured a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration, which is typically reserved for supercars.
