Just wanted to share a proper heavy-hitter from the AMG vault,  the R230 SL65 AMG finished in Obsidian Black Metallic.

This thing is everything you’d expect from a twin-turbo V12 Benz: understated, brutally fast, and built like a bank vault. The Obsidian Black paint really brings out the lines of the R230,  it’s subtle in low light, but under the sun, it pops with that deep metallic sheen. Definitely one of the better specs, especially paired with the factory 19″ AMG wheels and the discreet “V12 Biturbo” badging.

Under the hood? AMG’s legendary 6.0L biturbo V12, hand-built and good for 604 hp and 738 lb-ft. It’s the kind of torque that doesn’t ask, it commands. Even by today’s standards, this thing moves like a freight train with a short fuse. Straight-line pulls are violent in the best way, but it’s still refined enough to cruise effortlessly with the top down.

Interior’s classic early-2000s Mercedes: leather everywhere and just enough tech to be usable without taking away from the analog experience. The retractable hardtop still feels like magic every time it folds itself away.

The SL65 is a true AMG unicorn, especially now that clean, unmolested examples are getting harder to find. We won’t ever see such ludicrously from Mercedes Benz ever again.
